Five golden trails just 1hr from London. A hearty blend of nature, challenge, and breathtaking scenery. All day-trip territory.

1. Box Hill, Surrey
Box Hill offers a variety of trails with stunning views of the Surrey Hills. The most popular route is the 8-mile circular trail starting from Box Hill & Westhumble Station. You'll experience a mix of steep climbs, wooded paths, and open fields. Trains from London Waterloo to Box Hill & Westhumble take around 50 minutes.

2. Epping Forest, Essex
Epping Forest provides a vast network of trails perfect for all levels. The 10km Oak Trail is a favorite, taking you through ancient woodlands and open grasslands. It's a relatively flat route with plenty of shade, ideal for summer runs. You can reach Epping Forest via the Central Line to Loughton Station, which takes about 40 minutes from central London.

3. South Downs Way, Sussex
For a more challenging run, head to the South Downs Way. Start from Amberley Station for a scenic 10-mile stretch to Arundel, offering panoramic views of rolling hills and picturesque villages. Trains from London Victoria to Amberley take around 1 hour 20 minutes, so it's slightly over an hour but well worth the extra time.

4. Lea Valley, Hertfordshire
Lea Valley is perfect for a leisurely trail run along the River Lea. The 7-mile route from Broxbourne to Cheshunt is flat and well-maintained, making it accessible for all fitness levels. The natural beauty and wildlife along the river are a bonus. Trains from London Liverpool Street to Broxbourne take about 30 minutes.

5. Chiltern Hills, Buckinghamshire
The Chiltern Hills offer diverse trails with picturesque countryside views. The 9-mile Ridgeway Trail from Wendover to Princes Risborough is a highlight, featuring rolling hills and charming villages. You can reach Wendover in just under an hour from London Marylebone.
